Description

Worn at the throat, a mangalsutra speaks before a word is said. This double-strand piece draws from the vocabulary of everyday bridal adornment that has long been perfected by craftsmen working in the brass-jewellery tradition. The two slender chains fall in gentle parallel, meeting at a pendant drop whose surface is set with small stones arranged in a tight cluster, the kind of close-set stone work that recalls the spirit of Jadau without its precious metal ground. The brass base carries a warm, gold-toned finish, giving the piece the quiet luminosity of an heirloom while remaining entirely accessible. At 10.5 inches in length (approximately 26.7 cm), the necklace sits at the collarbone, the ideal register for a mangalsutra meant to be seen and felt. The matching drop earrings, each measuring 1 inch in height and 0.2 inch in width (roughly 2.5 cm by 0.5 cm), echo the pendant's stone-set motif in miniature. The full set weighs 17.5 grams, light enough to be forgotten on the body. Pair it with a deep-toned Banarasi silk sari at a family puja, letting the gold-toned brass hold its own against rich brocade. On quieter days, it sits equally well against a handloom cotton kurta in ivory or rust. The free-size necklace fastens with a simple adjustable closure, requiring no resizing. Brass polishes back to its original warmth with a dry cloth, making daily wear and care genuinely effortless.
