Description
Turquoise has always known how to hold the eye. This pair of Meenakari Kundan bangles carries the full weight of Jaipur's enamel tradition, where flame-fired colour is laid into recessed brass silver alloy channels with the patience of a painter working in miniature. The dominant turquoise enamel ground is interrupted by floral motifs, each petal outlined in white and punctuated at its centre by a foil-backed Kundan setting, the uncut glass or stone held in place by fine gold-toned wire pressed flush against the setting bed. The interplay is characteristic of Rajasthani Meenakari at its most confident: intense colour, controlled geometry, and the quiet glitter of embedded Kundan working in concert rather than in competition. Each bangle measures approximately one centimetre in height and five and a half centimetres in inner diameter, and the pair weighs a substantial 136 grams, giving them a presence on the wrist that silk and cotton alike will notice. Wear them with an ivory tissue-silk kurta for a Diwali evening, where the turquoise reads as the only jewel you need. Equally, they sit beautifully against the bordeaux tones of a Banarasi saree at a winter wedding, the enamel picking up the gold zari running through the weave. The bangles are finished to a smooth interior for comfortable extended wear. At 2.2 inches inner diameter, they suit a standard adult wrist. The brass silver alloy base keeps the pair lightweight enough for daily festive dressing without sacrificing structural integrity.
