Description

There are bangles made to be worn, and then there are bangles made to be remembered. This pair belongs to the second kind. Set in brass and finished in the Kundan tradition, each bangle is studded with flat-foiled stones arranged in the dense, jewel-by-jewel manner that Jaipur's artisans have refined over centuries. The stones are set without prongs, held instead by fine gold-tinted foil pressed flush against the metal, so the surface reads as one unbroken field of colour and light. Threading between the stones, the Meenakari enamel runs in a deep, saturated green, the kind associated with the vegetal motifs of Rajasthani court jewellery. This is not painted finish but fired enamel, each passage of colour demanding its own kiln-run from the karigar. The bangle is openable, secured by a fitted hinge closure that allows it to be worn and removed cleanly, without the ritual struggle of a fixed kara. Wear these with a raw silk kurta in ivory or champagne for a festive lunch, where the green enamel picks up the warmth of natural light. For a wedding evening, pair them against a deep burgundy or forest-green tissue saree and let the Kundan do the speaking. The pair weighs 80 grammes together, a substantial but wearable presence on the wrist. Three sizes are available: 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6; the standard size is 2.4. The hinged opening makes daily wear entirely practical.
