Description

There are bangles made to be worn, and there are bangles made to be remembered. Kundan work belongs to the courts of Rajasthan, where gold foil and glass stones were pressed into wax-set beds with a patience that no machine has ever replicated. These brass bangles carry that same grammar: flat-set Kundan stones arranged in repeating floral or geometric clusters across the outer face, each stone held within a fine foil-lined cell that catches light the way still water catches the sky. Brass, chosen here in place of gold, gives the pieces an honest weight, and at ninety-eight grams for the set, they sit on the wrist with the reassuring solidity of something that means business. The warm, burnished finish reads as antique gold without the pretence of claiming it. Pair them with an ivory chanderi sari for a winter wedding reception, where the Kundan picks up every candle in the room. For daytime, they belong equally well over a block-printed cotton kurta, bringing a quiet ceremony to an otherwise unfussy silhouette. These bangles are sized at 2.2, the standard Indian inner diameter, suited to a medium wrist. Brass wears well against the skin and holds its finish when kept away from perfume and moisture. A soft cloth is all they ask for in return.
