Description

Polki caught in brass, light held in a teardrop. There is an unhurried intelligence to Polki jewellery that no other craft quite replicates. Each uncut diamond-cut stone is set face-up, its natural planes left to gather and scatter light as they please, and it is this refusal of perfection that gives Polki its particular soul. Here, that tradition is interpreted in brass with a warm, antique-adjacent finish, the teardrop motifs arranged along the bangle's arc with the composed rhythm of a practiced hand. Brass, long favoured by artisans in Rajasthan for its receptiveness to detailed surface work, carries the Polki settings generously, neither competing with the stones nor retreating from them. The openable hinge mechanism speaks to the same practical wisdom that has always animated Indian jewellery: beauty must also live in the everyday. Wear these at a daytime mehendi, layered with thin gold-toned bangles to build the wrist casually and warmly. They read equally well at a winter wedding reception, paired with a silk brocade blouse and a single statement ring left to do its own work. Each bangle weighs sixty grams, a presence on the wrist that feels considered rather than heavy. Two sizes are available, 2.2 and 2.4, to fit a range of wrists with comfort. The openable clasp allows the bangle to be put on and removed without effort, making it a piece one reaches for often, not only on occasion.
