Description

Worn at the waist, this is jewellery that understands the body as sacred geometry. Cast in brass and finished in the warm, burnished manner of South Indian temple craft, the chain centres on Goddess Lakshmi rendered with the precision that Nagercoil and Thanjavur artisans have long brought to devotional adornment. Her figure, framed within the medallion, is flanked by the symmetrical vocabulary of temple jewellery: lotus scrollwork, layered borders and the small bead drops that swing at the hem, catching light the way oil lamps catch still air. At roughly 51 grams, the piece carries genuine heft, the kind that announces presence rather than merely decorating it. The brass itself, ungilded and honest, deepens over time into an antique warmth that no plating can replicate. At 14 inches (approximately 36 cm), the chain is designed to rest at the natural waist, free-sized with a standard adjustable closure so it falls correctly across a range of frames. Drape it over a silk Kanjeevaram at a wedding or puja, where it will read as considered devotion rather than costume. It works equally well cinched over a handloom cotton kurta for a heritage-dressed afternoon, grounding the silhouette with quiet authority. The free-size construction accommodates most waists comfortably. Brass requires minimal care: a soft cloth and occasional polish preserve its lustre. At 51 grams and priced thoughtfully, this is temple tradition made wearable, every single day.
