Description

There are ears that wear jewellery, and then there are ears that wear architecture. This Kundan ear chain belongs to the second kind. Rooted in the tradition of Rajasthani Kundan setting, where uncut glass or stone is pressed into a gold-foil-lined cavity and sealed with refined wax, the piece traces a line of set Kundan elements from a stud or hook at the upper ear down to a longer pendant form, the whole connected by delicate chain work that moves as the wearer moves. The brass base, weighing a substantial 91 grams, is worked with the patience that characterises Jaipur's jewellery lanes, where karigar families have shaped such linear, face-framing pieces for generations. Brass here is not a compromise; it is a considered choice, lending the chain its warm, antique-adjacent tone and the satisfying weight that keeps every element in place rather than drifting. Worn with a silk tissue kurta at a Diwali gathering, the chain catches candlelight and gives even a simple neckline something to answer. Pair it equally with a draped organza sari for a mehendi function, where the ear-to-chain silhouette reads as deliberate and considered rather than overstated. One size fits all wearers, as the chain adjusts naturally to different ear placements. The brass finish requires only a soft dry cloth to maintain its lustre. At 91 grams, the piece has presence without discomfort, provided the ear piercing is well-healed and the hook sits securely.
