Description

There are ears that wear jewellery, and then there are ears that wear stories. This Kundan ear chain belongs unmistakably to the second kind. Rooted in the tradition of Rajasthani adornment, where gold-toned brass has long served as the democratic cousin of yellow gold, it carries the characteristic geometry of set Kundan work: flat-polished foil-backed stones pressed flush into their settings by the kundan technique, held not by prongs but by refined gold-pressed lac beneath. The chain itself is the protagonist here, running from the ear stud or hook at the lobe up and over the ear, connecting ornamentation across the cartilage in a single unbroken sweep. Brass gives it heft and warmth without the weight of solid gold; at fifty-nine grams across the pair, it settles against the skin with pleasing presence rather than burden. Wear it with a tissue silk kurta at a mehendi or a sangeet, where its glint reads as intentional festivity. It pairs equally well with a crisp Chanderi sari for a day wedding where you want the jewellery to carry the occasion without overpowering the textile. One size fits the full range of ear geometries, the chain adjusting naturally to how the piece is positioned. Brass, with proper care and occasional polishing, holds its warm tone well. This is a piece to buy for a season and find yourself returning to across many.
