Description

There are ceremonies that begin the moment the wrists are adorned. Kaleera carry the oldest memory of a North Indian bridal trousseau, and this pair honours that weight without apology. Cast in brass and finished to a warm, burnished tone, each piece rises to a height of six and a half inches (approximately 16.5 cm) and spreads to a diameter of two and a quarter inches (approximately 5.7 cm), the silhouette tapering from a broad canopy of tiered drops to a fine adjustable chain at the top. The drops are set with stones across the canopy in a close, repeated pattern, catching light at every movement of the arm, the way kaleera are meant to: not still, never still. The overall weight of the pair, at two hundred and forty-five grams, lends them the satisfying presence that lightweight substitutes cannot replicate. Brass, long used in bridal and ceremonial jewellery across Rajasthan and the Punjab plains, holds its finish and its form through a long wedding day. Wear them tied to the ends of red or ivory chooda bangles for a full Punjabi bridal look, or pair them over silk thread bangles with a Banarasi lehenga for a more eclectic, contemporary bridal styling. They read equally well at mehndi ceremonies and wedding receptions. The adjustable chain means the length suits most wrist sizes without alteration. The brass construction resists bending under daily handling, and the stone settings remain secure through celebratory movement, making these a reliable choice for the day itself.
