Description

There is a quietness to leaves that gold understands instinctively. Wrought in gold-toned metal, this bangle pair carries a repeating leaf motif worked in relief along the outer face, each frond rendered with the kind of unhurried attention one associates with the decorative metalwork traditions of Rajasthan, where botanical forms have long been pressed into bangles, torques and hair ornaments. The green enamel fill within the leaves recalls the spirit of Meenakari, that centuries-old art of fusing pigmented colour into metal, here interpreted in a lighter, contemporary register rather than the full Jaipur polychrome tradition. The silhouette is a clean, rigid kara, spare and unornamented at the back, letting the leafwork speak from the wrist forward. Weighing 47 grams for the set, the bangles sit with reassuring substance without feeling heavy across a day.
