Description

There is a particular stillness to Kundan work at its finest: stones held not by prongs but by pure intention, pressed into gold foil with a patience that cannot be hurried. This openable kada is built on a brass base, its broad cuff surface given entirely to the Kundan setter's art. Flat-set stones in a warm peach palette are laid across the face of the bangle in the time-honoured manner, each one cradled in fine foil and framed by the raised borders characteristic of Jaipur's Kundan ateliers. Between the stone clusters, uncut Polki diamonds, or their refined brass-set approximation, scatter light with the unpredictable softness that only an irregular surface can produce. The hinged, openable closure is not merely practical; it is a structural conceit that allows the cuff's inner dimension of approximately 4.3 cm height and 4.6 cm width to fit the wrist cleanly, without the forcing and bruising that a rigid bangle demands. At 45 grams, the piece carries itself with authority. Wear it alone over the sleeve of a raw-silk kurta for a winter wedding lunch, or stack it against plain gold bangles for a reception evening where restraint and richness must coexist in equal measure. The hinged closure opens and shuts with a firm click, making this suitable for daily wear without repeated adjustment. The brass base keeps the weight honest and the structure stable across long hours of wear.
