Description

There is a particular joy in a bangle that catches the light before you have even raised your wrist. These four bangles are worked in the Kundan tradition, where a base of brass is built up and finished to receive flat-set stones pressed flush into their gold-toned foil beds. The setting method is unhurried: each stone is secured by the careful folding of the metal margin around it, a technique that Jaipur's karigar workshops have refined over centuries. The brass construction gives the bangles a satisfying solidity, the set of four together weighing seventy grams in total, which means they stack and settle on the wrist with genuine presence rather than the nervous rattle of lighter costume work. The stones, placed in repeating geometric or floral arrangements across the bangle face, catch and hold ambient light in the manner that made Kundan jewellery the language of Mughal and Rajput courts alike. Wear all four stacked on one wrist over a silk chanderi kurta in ivory or dust rose, and the effect is quietly ceremonial. They translate equally well at a daytime wedding lunch worn against printed cotton, where their warm brass ground reads as antique gold without any pretence. Available in sizes 2.2 and 2.4 to accommodate different wrist circumferences, with each bangle slipping on and wearing flat against the skin. Brass as a base metal means the structure holds its shape through daily wear, and the Kundan setting, undisturbed by ordinary movement, keeps its stones secure season after season.
