Description
There are blessings one carries close, and then there are blessings one wears. Carved from pure silver in the devotional craft tradition of Nepal, this set of two Ganesh bala arrives as a pair of intention. The muga silhouette, broad and gently curved, spans two inches (approximately 5 cm) in width and length, with a modest height of three-quarters of an inch (approximately 1.9 cm). Each piece is worked in low-relief carving, the Ganesh motif rendered with calm precision: the recognisable form of the elephant-headed deity pressed into silver, his presence at once auspicious and unhurried. Nepalese silver carving shares its lineage with the devotional metalwork traditions of the hills, where silversmiths have long understood that sacred imagery and wearable form are not separate concerns. At a combined weight of twenty-four grams, the pair carries substance without heaviness. Worn as bangles on both wrists together, these balas read beautifully against a silk kurta in ivory or saffron at a puja, a naming ceremony, or a temple visit. They are equally considered alongside a fine cotton saree during the quieter register of a festival morning, where restraint speaks as clearly as ornament. Free-sized and designed to slip over the hand with ease, they require no adjustment and no clasp. The plain silver finish, unadorned by stones or lacquer, means they age with grace, deepening in character with every wearing and responding well to gentle polishing when you choose to restore their original brightness.
