Description

Lacquer carries memory the way a temple carries fragrance: long after the ritual, something remains. This bangle is built in the tradition of Rajasthan's lac workshops, where molten lacquer is pressed and shaped over a brass core to produce a weight and warmth that no synthetic resin can replicate. The Padmavati motif speaks its name directly: the lotus goddess rendered in relief across the bangle's outer face, her form surrounded by petals and borders that echo the carved stonework of Rajput havelis. The red is the red of sindoor and silk, deep and ceremonious without straining for attention. Brass gives the piece its structural integrity and its faint golden gleam at the edges, while the lacquer surface is sealed smooth, cool to the touch on first contact and then gently warm against the skin. Each bangle weighs approximately one hundred and sixty grams across a set, a substantive presence on the wrist. Wear a pair stacked at the wrist over a raw-silk anarkali in ivory or ivory-and-gold for a festive afternoon; or let a single bangle finish a handloom cotton kurta for a wedding breakfast, where it reads as considered rather than decorative. The bangle is available in three sizes: two-four, two-six and two-eight, covering a comfortable range of wrist measurements. The lacquered brass surface requires only a soft cloth and gentle handling, away from prolonged water exposure. A considered piece for the woman who chooses ornament with the same seriousness she brings to cloth.
