There is something quietly theatrical about a jewel that travels from ear to cheek. This layered ear chain is rooted in the Kundan tradition, that ancient art of setting uncut or shaped stones into a metal bed without the use of claws or prongs. Here, vivid red stones sit flush within their settings, held in place by the thin sheet of gold-coloured foil that gives Kundan its characteristic inner luminosity. The base is brass, worked and finished to carry the weight and warmth of the craft with honesty. Tiny beads drop at the lower end, adding movement with every turn of the head. The layered chain itself, measuring 5.5 inches (approximately 14 cm) in length, drapes from the ear down the jaw in a single fluid arc, its 40 grams lending a satisfying, grounded presence on the skin.
