Description

A bangle that opens like a secret, closes like a vow. Rajwadi meenakari has always belonged to the havelis of Jaipur, where karigars press vivid enamel into engraved brass in colours that refuse to fade with memory or light. These bangles carry that lineage faithfully. The broad, cuff-like silhouette follows the high Rajput bridal idiom: a wide band dressed in floral and paisley motifs rendered in opaque enamel, the hues layered and fired so that each petal holds its own depth. Brass is the traditional ground for this work, its warm amber tone letting the enamel colours read with clarity rather than competing against a cooler metal. A hinged, openable closure runs along one edge, a detail that speaks to the bridal tradition of jewellery that is ceremonially placed and formally secured. Worn together as a pair, these bangles sit beautifully against a silk or tissue-silk lehenga for a wedding or sangeet, their width demanding no further stacking. They are equally at ease clasped over the full sleeve of an Anarkali for a festive family gathering, where their colour draws attention without requiring accompaniment. Each bangle weighs approximately 100 grams for the pair, a presence on the wrist that is felt without being burdensome. The hinged opening accommodates a standard size 2/6 wrist comfortably, and the secure clasp means the piece stays in place through the full length of a long celebration.
