Description

There is a quiet authority to a bangle that opens, closes, and holds its ground at the wrist. These two kadas draw from the Rajwadi vocabulary of Jaipur's jewellery courts, where brass becomes a warm, weighty foundation for Kundan setting. Each bangle is worked in the flat-set Kundan technique: glass or stone elements pressed into a bed of lac and rimmed with fine foil-backed settings, so the surface catches light in the still, considered way that paste or bezel work never quite manages. The motifs follow the formal register of Rajput ornament, repeating geometric or floral panels around the circumference, held together by the logic of the craftsman's grid. The openable hinge mechanism is the practical inheritance of the Rajasthani kara tradition, allowing a precise fit without forcing the bangle over the hand. The pair together weighs a substantial 144 grams, which gives the wrists a presence that lighter pieces cannot. Wear both kadas stacked on one wrist over a silk chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, or pair them with a tissue-silk sari at a sangeet where the brass warmth reads as deliberate and considered, never loud. Available in sizes 2.4 and 2.6, the openable clasp makes sizing reliable rather than approximate. Brass holds its colour well with simple care; avoid prolonged contact with water and wipe clean with a dry cloth after each wearing.
