Description

There is a particular pleasure in a bangle that announces itself quietly, through colour rather than noise. These four bangles work as an ensemble, each one set in the Kundan manner: flat-polished stones in deep amethyst purple and cool white pressed into a brass base, the settings built up in the layered, wax-backed tradition that Jaipur's stone-setters have refined over centuries. The brass foundation is finished to a warm, gold-toned lustre, providing the ground from which the stones seem to float outward rather than sit upon the surface. Kundan as a technique was always about the conversation between refined metal and uncut stone, and here that conversation is held in miniature, at an accessible scale that does not sacrifice the essential character of the craft. Worn stacked on one wrist, these four bangles pair with a pale ivory or cream silk kurta for festive afternoons, letting the purple carry the only note of colour. For a wedding reception, slide them alongside one or two plain gold-tone kadas to balance the stone-set work against something unadorned. The set is sized at 2.6 and weighs a collective 43 grams, meaning it sits with presence on the wrist without pulling or fatigue over a long evening. The brass construction is firm and circular, holding its shape across regular wear, and the stones are seated securely enough for confident, unhurried daily use.
