Description

There is a quiet confidence in a bangle that opens like a secret. Polki, the uncut diamond's humbler cousin in raw foiled glass form, has long been the language of Rajasthani adornment. Here, those flat, table-cut stones are set into a brass base worked in the manner of Jaipur's bazaar ateliers, where metal is pressed, hinged and given structure before the stones are laid in silver-toned collets and sealed with careful pressure. The openable form, a hinged bangle rather than a slip-on, belongs to a tradition that valued both ornament and practicality. Two colourways are offered: a deep green, available in size 2.2, and a warm pink in size 2.4, each bangle weighing a substantial 76 grams, a weight that speaks of generous metalwork and generous ambition both. The brass base carries its finish with steadiness, neither mimicking gold nor apologising for itself. Wear the green bangle against a tissue silk kurta in ivory for a daytime festivity, letting the stone colour carry the drama alone. The pink sits beautifully at a mehendi or a sangeet against dusky rose or terracotta, where it amplifies rather than competes. The hinged closure opens cleanly at the joint and sits flush when shut, making it accessible for wrists that cannot manage a rigid slip-on. At 76 grams it has presence on the arm without fatigue. The brass holds its polish well with occasional gentle wiping.
