Description

There is a particular weight to a bangle that announces itself before you even raise your wrist. These polki-studded bangles, sold as a pair, belong to a craft lineage long associated with the ateliers of Rajasthan, where uncut stones are set not for brilliance alone but for the quality of their raw, earthward light. Each bangle is worked in brass, a metal prized in folk and festive jewellery traditions for its warmth and its willingness to hold intricate surface treatments. The polki stones sit in open-backed settings, characteristic of the technique, allowing light to travel through the uncut faces and return softened, almost candlelit. At thirty-two grams the pair carries real presence without fatigue, and the interior diameters span three sizes: 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8, accommodating a range of wrists with the same fitted, close-hugging silhouette that Rajasthani bangle design has always favoured. Worn against a deep-toned silk kurta or draped over the border of a handloom sari at a mehendi or intimate family celebration, this pair reads as considered and unhurried. They are equally convincing layered with plain gold-tone bangles for a contemporary stacked look at a festive dinner. The brass base has been finished to a warm, matte-adjacent tone that resists the harsh gleam of plated costume jewellery. The rigid form needs no clasp. Store them wrapped in soft cloth when not in use, and they will hold their surface reliably through a full season of wear.
