Description

There is a particular generosity to a bangle that opens, that welcomes the wrist rather than demanding the hand contort to meet it. These Polki bangles are worked in brass, a metal long favoured in folk and courtly traditions alike for its warmth and its willingness to hold colour. Uncut Polki stones, with their raw, mineral honesty, are set across the outer face in close formation, catching light the way a riverbed catches sun: not with flash, but with depth. The openable hinge, a practical grace note, allows the pair to sit flush and secure. The bangles are offered in two vivid enamelled colourways, green and red, each evoking the Meenakari tradition of Jaipur where colour is not ornament but argument. Both sizes, 2.2 and 2.4, accommodate a range of wrists, and the pair weighs a substantial 60 grams, lending each movement a quiet, grounded presence. Wear the red pair with an ivory chanderi kurta at a daytime mehendi, or slide the green onto a bare wrist over a silk saree for a winter wedding evening. Either colourway earns its place at celebrations where jewellery is expected to speak, not shout. The hinged closure means no struggle at the knuckle, and the brass base ensures the bangles hold their shape through seasons of wear. At sizes 2.2 and 2.4, both pairs are priced accessibly for a craft this considered, and are sturdy enough for daily reach, pour and gesture.
