Description

The peacock does not merely decorate this kada; it presides over it. Rooted in the South Indian temple jewellery tradition, this openable kada pair draws on a lineage of copper craftsmanship where the metal itself is the statement. Copper, long venerated in ritual contexts for its warmth and conductivity, is worked here into a broad, sculpted cuff bearing the peacock in relief, the bird's spread tail and arched neck rendered with the precision that temple-style artisans prize above ornamentation. The silhouette is architecturally confident: a hinged, openable form that closes flush against the wrist, its surface carrying the burnished, antique-toned finish characteristic of temple pieces from the Nagercoil belt of Tamil Nadu. At approximately 120 grams the pair carries genuine presence without heaviness. Available in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8, each size corresponding to standard Indian bangle sizing. Wear these with a deep-bordered silk saree for a festival or puja occasion, where the copper's warm ochre glow answers the gold zari without competing with it. They are equally arresting paired with a white or ivory cotton kurta for a more spare, considered everyday look. The hinged, openable closure means these slip on and off without effort, making them practical for daily wear despite their weight. The copper finish requires only a soft, dry cloth to maintain its depth. Sold as a pair, they are priced at Rs 1,957 for both.
