Description

There is a particular quietness to Polki that no other stone quite achieves. Flat-cut, unfinished, and luminous in the way that only unprocessed crystal can be, Polki has long been the stone of the Indian bridal imagination. Here, each oval Polki is set into a brass bangle with careful precision, the stones arranged so that their natural, unfaceted surfaces catch light at every turn of the wrist. Brass, long the foundation of ceremonial jewellery across Rajasthan and Bengal, lends this pair its warm, golden depth without the weight of solid metal. The openable hinge at the side is both practical and considered, a small engineering courtesy that makes the bangle generous in the truest sense. The pair weighs a combined 120 grams, and comes in three wrist sizes: 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6, so the fit is never an afterthought. Worn together, these bangles carry the pair well into a winter wedding reception, layered over the sleeve of a raw silk kurta in ivory or deep plum. They are equally at ease with a formal cotton saree for a daytime puja, where their restrained gleam reads as elegance rather than extravagance. The openable closure means even narrower wrists can wear the 2.2 size without force. Brass, when stored away from moisture, holds its warm tone beautifully. These are bangles built not merely for a single occasion, but for years of considered wear.
