Description

There are brides who carry their adornment like architecture, and these bangles are built for them. Polki work belongs to the old ateliers of Rajasthan, where uncut diamonds were once set in gold foil against lac cores to catch the light without refraction. Here that same principle is honoured in brass, a metal long prized in subcontinental ceremonial jewellery for its warmth and weight. The unfoiled polki stones sit in close-set, flat-faced settings across the bangle's surface, each one held by fine collet work that lets the stone read as a constellation rather than a cluster. The openable hinge closure is the real mark of considered craft: it allows the bangle to be worn close to the wrist without forcing, preserving both the structural integrity of the piece and the comfort of the wearer. The pair weighs seventy grammes together, available in sizes 2.2 and 2.4. For the wedding reception, wear the pair stacked against a single gold bangle on the same wrist, against a heavily worked silk tissue lehenga. For a pre-wedding mehendi, they read beautifully alone against bare, henna-stained skin, requiring nothing else. The openable clasp makes daily fastening straightforward, even for a single wearer without assistance. Both sizes, 2.2 and 2.4, accommodate standard Indian wrist measurements, and the brass base keeps the overall weight wearable across a long ceremonial day without fatigue.
