Description

There are serpents here who have waited centuries to be worn. In the iconography of South Indian temple jewellery, the Naga is never merely decorative. Coiled around the Amrita Kalash, the vessel of immortal nectar, these two serpents speak of protection, continuity and the eternal cycle that temple craftsmen in traditions stretching from Nagercoil to Thanjavur have rendered in silver for generations. This bangle is worked in sterling silver, its surface carrying the kind of dense, considered repousse and chasing that gives temple jewellery its characteristic sculptural weight. Coral, auspicious and warm-toned, punctuates the composition, drawing the eye toward the Kalash at the crest. The piece measures 1.3 cm in height and 5.6 cm in diameter, and at 80 grams it carries a presence you feel from the moment it settles on the wrist. A screw clasp closes the cuff discreetly, preserving the integrity of the design on all sides. Wear it with a silk Kanjivaram for a wedding or a family puja, where the silver picks up candlelight and the coral reads as an heirloom accent. It is equally considered against the sleeve of an ivory or ecru kurta at a festival lunch, where its mythology does the speaking. The screw clasp allows easy fastening without assistance, and the fixed diameter of 2.2 inches suits a standard adult wrist. Sterling silver benefits from occasional soft polishing to retain its lustre through daily ceremonial or regular wear.
