Description

There is a particular joy in colour worn close to the wrist. This pair of openable bangles is worked in brass, a metal long favoured in the decorative traditions of Rajasthan and Bengal for its warm, golden undertone and its willingness to hold intricate settings. Multicoloured stones sit in close formation along the outer face of each bangle, their facets catching light in the manner of the crystal-set pieces once made for festive trousseaux. The crystal detailing around each stone lends a refractive quality that lifts the palette from merely colourful to genuinely luminous. At a height of 0.80 inches (roughly 2 cm) and an inner diameter of 2 inches (approximately 5 cm), the bangles have the satisfying weight of considered craft, each pair together weighing 70 grams. The openable clasp is a practical inheritance from kara and cuff traditions where ease of wear never came at the cost of elegance. Pair these with a hand-blocked cotton kurta and a silk dupatta for a daytime cultural event, where the stones read as effortless rather than elaborate. For a festive evening, let them sit alongside a Chanderi silk saree in ivory or rose; the multicolour stones hold their own without competing. The inner diameter accommodates a standard wrist comfortably, and the openable hinge removes the difficulty of threading bangles on and off. Brass requires no special maintenance beyond occasional wiping with a soft, dry cloth.
