Description

Worn at the wrist, a garden takes flight. The peacock has always been the subcontinent's most eloquent motif, its feathers read as a kind of courtly shorthand for beauty, devotion and the monsoon's arrival. Here, that vocabulary is rendered in copper, hand-formed into a rigid bangle silhouette and finished with a warm gold plating that catches light the way burnished temple jewellery does. The floral clusters that frame each peacock figure recall the decorative vocabulary of Rajasthani and Gujarati festival pieces, where colour is not decoration but grammar. Multicoloured enamel or stone-set accents animate the surface, the whole composition staying close to the aesthetic of painted folk traditions without borrowing their informality. Two bangles together, each piece weighing a combined total of 53 grams for the pair, create the satisfying sound and presence that a single bangle never quite achieves. Worn over a raw silk kurta in ivory for a wedding sangeet, or slipped onto a bare wrist alongside a fine cotton saree for a festive lunch, these bangles carry themselves with genuine occasion. The multicolour palette moves between deep teal, coral and gilt, reading well against both warm and cool skin tones. The standard fitting is size 2.8, a measurement indicating the inner diameter in inches, suited to most medium wrists. The copper base keeps the bangles light in daily wear despite their visual weight. The gold plating should be kept away from prolonged contact with water to preserve its finish.
