Description
There is something in the weight of a well-made bangle that speaks before you do. These Kundan-set bangles are worked in brass and finished with a deliberate antique patina, the kind that reads not as age but as intention. The Kundan technique, long associated with the ateliers of Jaipur, involves setting stones into a bed of lac, each gem held by fine gold-toned foils pressed flush against the metal. Here, the stones appear in multiple colours, arranged across the broad arc of the bangle in the dense, jewelled registers that mark the finest decorative brasswork. The antique finish, slightly oxidised and warm, pulls the colours of the stones forward and gives the whole form a studied depth. The openable hinge allows the bangle to be slipped on and off without force, a small but considered gesture toward modern wearing. Each bangle weighs approximately 74 grams for the pair combined, and the size offered is 2.2. Wear them stacked over the cuff of a raw-silk kurta at a Diwali gathering, where the antique brass will catch candlelight without competing with it. They sit equally well against the border of a handloom cotton saree at a festive lunch, grounding a lighter ensemble with quiet richness. The size 2.2 fits a standard wrist with the openable clasp offering ease of wear. Brass carries warmth against skin, and the antique finish resists the harshness of daily light, ageing gracefully with each wearing.
