Description
There is something in the arc of a Mughal arch that refuses to be forgotten. These bangles carry that memory forward. Cast in brass and finished to evoke the warmth of aged gold, each bangle in the pair is built around the openable hinge closure that made Mughal court jewellery so practical and so precious at once. The surface is set with uncut Polki, those flat, rough-edged stones that catch light the way a kite catches wind: obliquely, beautifully, without effort. Against the Polki, cabochon green stones sit in collet settings, referencing the emerald obsession of Mughal ateliers from Agra to Lahore. The motifs, likely scrolling floral or jaali-inspired latticework, belong to a vocabulary that Jaipur karigars have kept alive across centuries of brass and silver work. Each bangle measures 0.70 inches (approximately 1.78 cm) in height with an inner diameter of 2 inches (approximately 5.08 cm), and the pair together weighs a grounded 70 grams. Wear the pair stacked on one wrist over a raw silk kurta in ivory or blush for a mehendi afternoon. They are equally at home against the border of a Benarasi sari at a winter wedding, where the green stones find their echo in zari. The hinged opening means no forcing over the hand; the bangle simply closes around the wrist with a clean click. Brass wears well with minimal care, and the green and gold palette holds its character across seasons and skin tones.
