Description

There is a particular pleasure in a bangle that opens like a secret and closes like a promise. These two copper bangles are set in the idiom of Jaipur's most beloved twin traditions: Kundan stone studding and Meenakari enamel work, here united on a single curved surface. Kundan setting, in its classical form, involves pressing polished glass or stones into a gold or gold-like foil bed so that each piece catches light from every angle. The Meenakari fills the surrounding field with fired colour, typically the vivid corals, greens and whites associated with Rajasthani atelier work. On copper, the warmth of the base metal lends the enamel a slightly deeper, earthier resonance than it would carry on silver. The openable hinge closure is the functional flourish that makes the pair genuinely wearable day after day, without the struggle of a fixed bangle over the knuckle. Together the set weighs approximately 102 grammes, available in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8. Wear them over the gathered sleeve of a silk kurta for a dinner that asks for colour without noise. They are equally at home stacked at the wrist above a cotton block-print kurti at a festive afternoon gathering, where the copper's warmth holds its own beside silver and gold alike. Each bangle closes flush and sits securely. The hinge mechanism makes sizing less critical than with a fixed bangle, and the copper construction keeps the pair light enough for extended wear without fatigue.
