Description

A weaver's rhythm, wrapped around the wrist. Sambalpuri fabric carries one of Odisha's oldest visual languages: the ikat-dyed motifs of shankha, chakra and phula, woven on handlooms where warp and weft are resist-dyed before the shuttle ever moves. Here, that same cloth is coaxed into bangle form, wrapped tightly over a lightweight plastic base and finished with tiny ghungroo bells that ring with the faintest movement of the hand. The result is a pair of bangles that weigh just 23 grams together, sitting close to the wrist at a comfortable inner diameter of 2 inches (5.08 cm) and an outer diameter of 2.75 inches (6.99 cm). The height is a slender 0.35 inches (0.89 cm), keeping the profile flat and unhurried. The colours follow the earthy, saturated palette that Sambalpur's weavers have long favoured: deep grounds broken by bright contrast in the signature resist pattern. Wear them stacked on a bare wrist with a handwoven cotton saree or an ikat kurta for a gathering where cloth itself is the conversation. They read just as well with a simple white linen kurta for a Sunday morning that calls for something grounded and quietly considered. The plastic core keeps each bangle light and resilient through daily wear, while the fabric wrapping stays neat with minimal care. The ghungroo detail adds a gentle sound without bulk, making this pair a practical and considered choice for the wrist.
