Description

There are bungles that adorn the wrist, and there are bangles that tell a story the moment they catch the light. This piece belongs to the second kind. Worked in a brass silver alloy, it carries the full vocabulary of Jaipur's meenakari tradition: a ground of deep bottle-green lacquer, laid with the patience that only a seasoned karigar who understands colour as pigment and prayer can summon. Against that verdant field, Kundan-set stones are placed in the navratna arrangement, nine gems in the classical sequence of ruby, pearl, coral, emerald, yellow sapphire, diamond, blue sapphire, cat's eye and hessonite, each held in pure foil-backed settings that amplify their lustre without the need for prongs. The result is a bangle that reads simultaneously as devotional object and contemporary heirloom, sitting at the confluence of temple jewellery sensibility and courtly ornament. At 60 grams, it has the satisfying weight of considered craft. Wear it as the centrepiece of a single wrist, against ivory tissue silk at a winter wedding, or paired with a deep teal chanderi kurta at a festive family gathering where you want ornament to speak quietly and with authority. The bangle measures 2.15 inches (5.46 cm) in inner diameter and is offered in both a fixed and an openable closure, so the fit is accommodating without compromise. The lacquer and Kundan work are kept back from sharp edges, making this as practical for a full evening as it is beautiful.
