Description
There is a particular joy in a bangle that announces itself gently, with the soft percussion of ghungroos. These openable bangles arrive as a pair, each one set in warm brass with a flat band of Kundan-style green stones arranged in close formation across the face. The Kundan technique here follows a long tradition of foil-backed stone setting, where each cabochon is pressed into a wax or lac bed within a raised bezel, capturing light without relying on a gemstone's own transparency. The green stones read like Jaipur emerald glass, saturated and still, offering the colour vocabulary of old Rajasthani jewellery without the formality of fine gold. From the lower rim of each bangle, a row of small ghungroo drops hangs freely, lending movement and a faint, intimate sound to every gesture. Each bangle measures approximately two centimetres in height and just over six centimetres in diameter, the pair together weighing a substantial one hundred and twenty grams. The openable clasp allows easy wearing without the wrestle of a solid bangle. Wear them with a deep-toned silk kurta for a winter wedding sangeet, where the ghungroos echo the music around you. Equally, layer them over the sleeve of an ivory cotton anarkali for a Diwali lunch, where the green and brass read festive without being heavy. The brass base develops a gentle patina over time. Store in a cloth pouch away from moisture, and the stones and finish will hold their character through many seasons of wearing.
