Description

Sound before sight: the soft, rhythmic chime of ghungroo that arrives before the wearer does. These bangles carry that logic in their very construction. A set of four, made from copper beneath a warm gold tone finish, each bangle is lined along its outer edge with tiny ghungroo bells, the kind that have accompanied Kashmiri festive dress for generations. The form is circular and unhinged, sized across four standard Kashmiri measurements: 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 and 2.10, allowing for a considered fit across a range of wrists. The collective weight of the set sits at seventy-five grams, substantial enough to settle with intention on the arm without feeling burdensome. Copper, the traditional base for much of the subcontinent's folk jewellery, gives the piece its warmth and lends the gold tone plating a slightly burnished, antique-adjacent quality that reads richer than it costs. Wear all four together for a Kashmiri wedding or a festive mehendi evening, layered over the full sleeve of a phiran or a silk kurta in deep teal or burgundy. For a more restrained occasion, two bangles on one wrist alongside plain gold-toned bangles carry the spirit without the full fanfare. At Rs 1,030 for the complete set of four, this is an accessible piece designed for daily festive rotation. The unhinged bangle form requires no clasp and slips on with ease, making it a practical choice for those who prefer jewellery that requires no fuss to wear.
