Description

There are bangles, and then there are bangles that remember a goddess. Fashioned in brass and finished in a warm, time-deepened antique gold, this pair belongs to the south Indian temple jewellery tradition, where sacred iconography is not ornament but devotion made wearable. Each bangle carries a raised depiction of Goddess Lakshmi, the details rendered with the deliberateness that defines temple craft: lotus motifs, foliate borders, and the characteristic oxidised relief that makes every contour read like a low-relief carving rather than pressed metal. The antique gold finish is achieved through a controlled darkening process that settles into the crevices, throwing the goddess's form into sharp, luminous contrast. The pair weighs a substantial 76 grams together, giving them a presence on the wrist that lighter bangles cannot replicate. The openable hinge closure is both a practical concession and a quiet elegance, allowing a clean fit across wrists that standard rigid bangles would not accommodate. Wear this pair with a silk Kanjivaram for a wedding puja, where the brass's warm glow holds its own against gold zari. On quieter days, they settle beautifully alongside a handloom cotton kurta and simple glass bangles, the antique finish doing the editorial work without effort. Available in sizes 2.4, 2.6 and 2.8, each corresponding to its respective inner diameter in Indian standard sizing. The hinged opening makes daily wear genuinely easy, and brass, properly stored away from moisture, holds its antique finish gracefully over time.
