Description

There is a particular stillness in a garden caught mid-bloom, and this bangle pair holds it in copper. The floral vine that travels the full circumference of each bangle is not decorative shorthand. It is a considered motif, one that recurs across the folk-jewellery traditions of Rajasthan and Bengal alike, where the creeping tendril and open flower have long been understood as symbols of continuity. Here, set into warm copper, coloured stones punctuate the vine at intervals, each held in place by a close, secure setting that keeps the surface flush and the line unbroken. Copper itself is a material with deep roots in Indian adornment, prized for its warmth, its slight reddish undertone, and the gentle patina it develops with wear. The openable hinge closure is precise: it allows the bangle to sit snugly without the difficulty of forcing a rigid circle over the wrist. The pair weighs 65 grams in total and is sized at 2.2, a standard Indian bangle size. For daywear, pair these with a handwoven cotton kurta in ivory or rust; the copper reads as both earthy and intentional. For an evening gathering, they layer beautifully against the deep border of a Kanjeevaram or a Chanderi silk saree, where their weight and warmth hold their own without competing. Each bangle opens cleanly at the hinge, making daily wear effortless. The stone-studded surface sits close to the wrist, avoiding snagging on fabric, and the copper finish remains consistently rich with minimal care.
