Description

There is something in a flower that every craft tradition has always understood. These bangles arrive as a pair, each one built around a repeating floral motif rendered in the Kundan manner: flat-set, unfoiled stones pressed into a base of worked brass, their edges held firm by the patient pressure of gold-toned foil surrounds. The silhouette is broad and architectural, the kind of bangle that sits rather than slides. Brass, long the preferred base for affordable Kundan work made in the ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner, gives the piece its weight and warmth. At fifty grams for the pair, you feel the substance on the wrist without fatigue. The openable hinge, discreet at the inner curve, means the fit is firm and the profile unbroken, which is precisely what Kundan demands: a clean, uninterrupted face for the stones to hold the light. Worn together on one wrist, these bangles suit a silk kurta at a family celebration, the gold-toned brass reading as festive without excess. Equally, try them against a plain ivory or deep indigo cotton at an evening dinner, where the stone-set florals do the work quietly and deliberately. Both sizes, 2.2 and 2.4, are offered to accommodate different wrists. The hinged opening removes the need to force the bangle on, protecting both the setting and the stones. The brass base is polished to a warm, consistent finish that wears well through the day.
