Description

Flowers, it is said, were the first ornament. This pair of openable Kundan bangles draws on one of Rajasthan's most enduring jewellery traditions, in which flowers are not merely decorative but structural: each petal is a frame, each frame holds a stone, each stone is set in the foil-backed Kundan manner so that light moves through it rather than simply bouncing off it. The motif here is fully floral, blooms arranged in repeat across a broad, flat silhouette that commands the wrist without crowding it. The base is brass, worked and finished to carry the characteristic warm gleam that allows Kundan's characteristic cold-set stones to read with clarity. The openable hinge closure is a practical inheritance from the Jaipur tradition of wearable ceremony: a bangle that can be worn as easily by a narrow wrist as a full one, without the ritual of threading. Worn together, the pair sits beautifully against a silk tissue kurta in ivory or blush for a wedding function. For a festival lunch, pair them with a printed cotton kurta in ochre or terracotta and they hold their own without effort. The bangle is sized 2.2, a standard Indian sizing that suits most wrists, and the pair weighs a combined 40 grams, giving them a satisfying presence that is not heavy on the arm. The openable clasp is designed for repeated use and sits flush when closed.
