Description

Meenakari, the art of fire and pigment, finds one of its most joyful expressions in this pair of sterling silver bangles, where the elephant walks again in colour and craft. Each bangle is set with a procession of enamel elephants rendered in the vivid, heat-fused pigments that define the Meenakari tradition, a craft carried most devotedly by the artisans of Jaipur, where colour is applied to metal with the same care a painter brings to a miniature. The ground is sterling silver, worked to a smooth, lustrous surface that allows the enamel to sing without distraction. The elephants are depicted with the gentle ceremony they deserve, each figure a small argument for the endurance of hand-applied craft over mechanical repetition. At a combined weight of forty-seven grams, the pair settles on the wrist with reassuring substance. Wear them with a hand-block-printed cotton kurta for a festive afternoon, where the bangles add exactly the right note of considered embellishment. For evening occasions, they pair beautifully with a silk chanderi or tissue saree, sitting alongside plain silver kadas without competition. The inner diameter of two inches (approximately five centimetres) follows a standard sizing used across most traditional bangle designs. Sterling silver wears comfortably through the seasons, resisting tarnish with minimal care. Store in the cloth pouch away from moisture and these bangles will hold both their lustre and their colour through years of use.
