Description

There is a particular kind of confidence that lives in a bangle that opens. These two bangles arrive as a pair, each one articulated with a hidden clasp that swings apart at the hinge and closes flush, so the continuity of the design is never broken. The setting is Polki work: uncut stones pressed flat against a brass base, held in place by fine beading that catches oblique light and scatters it softly. Brass, long favoured in the bazaars of Rajasthan for its warm, slightly honeyed undertone, gives the pieces a presence that reads as antique gold without making any false claim to it. The motifs trace the floral and geometric vocabulary of old Jaipur workshop tradition, where repetition and symmetry are themselves a kind of rhetoric. Across both bangles the combined weight reaches sixty grams, substantial enough to make itself felt on the wrist, quiet enough to wear through an afternoon. Pair them with a silk chanderi kurta at a festive lunch, where the Polki stones hold their own against printed fabric. For a wedding evening, they layer beautifully beneath heavily embroidered cuffs, their openable form making it practical to add and remove them without disturbing a single pleat. The bangles are offered in three sizes: 2.2, 2.4, and 2.6, corresponding to the standard Indian bangle scale. The hinged closure lies completely flat against the inner wrist. Brass requires only an occasional dry cloth to keep its finish burnished and true.
