Description

There are ear chains that merely connect; this one converses. Strung across the crown of the ear in the manner of the great bridal adornments of Rajasthan and Bengal, this pair draws a delicate chain from the upper cartilage down to the lobe, anchoring itself at both ends with studied grace. The white bead border, set in warm brass that has been finished to echo antique gold, introduces a quiet counterpoint: the creamy roundness of the beads against the fluid geometry of the chain links. At roughly 14.5 centimetres in length, the piece carries real presence without crowding the face. Weighing 30 grams for the pair, the brass sits with an honest density on the ear, neither flimsy nor burdensome. This is the vocabulary of the traditional ear chain, or sahara, long favoured by bridal karkhanas across Jaipur and the villages of interior Bengal, where linking jewellery has always spoken of ceremonial fullness. Worn over a tissue silk Banarasi lehenga, it transforms the profile into something properly regal. Equally, it earns its place against a chanderi kurta at a mehendi or haldi ceremony, where its warmth and weight read as intentional rather than overdressed. Free-sized and designed to rest across the standard ear, it pairs most naturally with a stud or a small jhumka at the lobe. The brass construction keeps the piece light on the budget at Rs 5,994.60, while the bead border ensures it photographs with a luminous, bridal particularity.
