Description

Worn on the wrist, a temple is carried everywhere. This kada draws from the devotional vocabulary of South Indian temple jewellery, a tradition kept alive in workshops stretching from Nagercoil to the goldsmith quarters of Thanjavur. Cast in solid brass and finished in an antique patina, the bangle is worked with deeply carved architectural motifs: deity figures, lotus medallions and scrolling border friezes that echo the stone-cut facades of gopurams. The silhouette is wide and cuff-like, bold enough to command attention without ornament beyond the carving itself. At 145 grams, the weight is substantial and intentional, the kind of settled gravity that speaks of traditional bridal adornment rather than contemporary minimalism. The openable hinge closure, a practical refinement of the bridal kada form, allows the piece to sit flush and secure against the wrist without the compromise of a screw or clasp. Pair it with a Kanjivaram silk sari in deep temple red or peacock green for a wedding ceremony, letting the brass warm against the zari weave. For a quieter occasion, it grounds a cream cotton chanderi kurta with equal conviction. Offered in size 2/6, this kada suits a standard Indian wrist and its hinged opening makes wearing straightforward. The antique brass finish is low-maintenance and deepens handsomely with time, requiring only an occasional soft cloth. A considered choice for the bridal trousseau or a lasting gift of craft.
