Description

There are objects that carry light within them, and amber has always been one. This bangle pairs Baltic or resin amber, warm as afternoon sun caught in tree-sap, with a silver cuff that has been hand-engraved across its entire surface. The engraving, likely worked in a tradition allied to Rajasthani or North Indian silversmithing, moves in scrolling botanical registers, the kind of patient line-work that silversmiths press into the metal with a burin, one deliberate stroke at a time. The amber is set flush or bezel-set within the silver, its honeyed translucence deepened against the oxidised or polished ground beneath. Measuring 3.5 inches in diameter (approximately 8.9 cm) and 1 inch (roughly 2.5 cm) in width, the cuff weighs a substantial 50 grams, giving it the presence of a serious heirloom piece without overwhelming the wrist. Worn alone, it suits a raw-silk kurta in ivory or saffron, letting the amber read as the single point of warmth. Paired with printed chanderi or a Parsi-embroidered blouse, it holds its own against patterned fabric without competing, the silver's engraved detail quietly answering complexity with complexity. The rigid cuff silhouette means no clasp to fatigue over time, and the silver develops a gentle patina with wear. The width distributes weight evenly, so the 50-gram heft sits comfortably through an evening or a long festive day.
