Three Paisleys in One Multi-Color Embroidered Patch with Sequins
Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin pouch away from direct sunlight to keep the sheen alive.
Behind this piece
The paisley, known in India as the kairi or mango motif, carries centuries of weaving and embroidery history across Kashmir, Lucknow, and the Deccan courts. Here, three paisleys are gathered within a single patch, each outlined in sequin work and hand-stitched onto art silk, a fabric that mimics the soft drape and sheen of pure mulberry silk. The multicolour thread palette recalls the exuberant embroidery traditions of Kutch and Rajasthan, where dense surface ornamentation was never considered excess but rather a declaration of skill and devotion to the cloth.
How to style
Stitch this patch along the hem of an ivory or champagne anarkali to anchor the silhouette with colour. It reads beautifully on the yoke of a plain cotton kurta worn with wide-leg palazzo trousers for a festive afternoon gathering. For a contemporary approach, centre it on the back of a structured silk jacket paired with straight-cut trousers and kolhapuri block-heeled sandals. Finish each look with oxidised silver or kundan jewellery, which complements the sequin work without competing against the patch's layered embroidery.
Fabric & care
Art silk is a delicate woven rayon that loses its integrity when handled roughly in water. Hand wash the finished garment in cool water using a mild, pH-neutral detergent, and keep immersion brief. Never wring or twist the fabric around the patch, as the sequin threads and embroidery stitches can loosen under tension. Lay flat to dry in shade, away from direct sunlight, which fades the multicolour threads over time. Store folded in muslin, not plastic, and keep a small sachet of dried neem leaves nearby to deter insects.
