Description
Colour is a language older than words, and these beads speak it fluently. Meenakari, the art of fusing vitreous enamel onto metal, reached its finest expression in the workshops of Jaipur, where karigars learned to coax jewel-bright pigments into intricate floral and geometric fields. Here, that tradition is rendered in sterling silver rather than gold, a choice that gives the enamel a cooler, more luminous ground and keeps the colours singing without competition. Each of the nine beads in this set measures approximately 15 by 22 mm on average, and the collective weight of 50 grams ensures a satisfying, substantive presence on the throat. The enamel surfaces, worked in the colours pictured, carry the characteristically layered depth that only hand-applied firing can produce, each bead a self-contained composition of controlled heat and pigment. Strung as a graduated necklace, these beads sit beautifully against an ivory chanderi kurta for a festive afternoon gathering, or anchor a deep-toned Banarasi silk blouse for an evening of ceremony where restraint and richness must coexist. At free size, the beads are drilled to accept a range of cord or chain gauges, making them adaptable to personal stringing preferences. Sterling silver holds enamel colour faithfully over time; keep the beads away from perfume and moisture, store them separately, and the fired surface will remain vivid across many seasons of wear.
