Description

There are silhouettes that carry the memory of a whole tradition without announcing it. This Polki necklace and earrings set is fashioned in brass with the restraint and architectural confidence that places it squarely within the Rajasthani imagination. Uncut Polki stones, set flat and foil-backed in the manner long practised by Jaipur's stone-setting karigars, catch light the way a window grille catches afternoon sun: obliquely, honestly, without theatre. The necklace spreads across the collarbone in a wide, layered silhouette, its width of approximately thirteen centimetres giving it the visual weight of a ceremonial piece, while the brass base, worked and finished to a warm gold tone, holds the overall set at a manageable ninety-one grams. The matching drop earrings, roughly five centimetres tall and just under two centimetres wide, echo the necklace's geometry in miniature. Wear the necklace over a deep-neck raw silk kurta in ivory or blush for a mehendi or sangeet, where the brass's warmth reads as deliberate rather than decorative. For the diaspora wardrobe, it translates equally well over a boat-neck linen blouse paired with a pleated skirt, grounding an otherwise minimal look.
