Description
There are bridal sets that merely adorn, and there are those that narrate a ceremony entire. This five-piece Kundan parure draws from the Rajasthani tradition of setting polished glass stones, here in a deep, saturated red, into a brass base finished to carry the warmth of gold-toned metal. The choker, measuring approximately 9.5 centimetres in length and 15 centimetres across at its widest, frames the throat with closely set Kundan cells in a floral and geometric grid, each stone pressed flat within its foil-backed bezel in the manner Jaipur's Kundan karigars have practised for centuries. Pearl drops descend from the nath, from the earrings, and from the haath phool, that five-fingered hand ornament spanning roughly 13.5 centimetres, lending a softness to the jewellery's structured severity. The matha patti with its attached maang tikka spreads 24 centimetres wide and anchors the entire composition at the crown. The set weighs 383 grams in total, a presence that registers as ceremonial without being burdensome. Wear it complete with a red or ivory silk bridal lehenga and full-sleeved blouse for the wedding ceremony itself. For a sangeet or mehendi, pair the nath and haath phool alone with a printed chanderi gharara to let specific pieces breathe. The brass base offers durability suited to long bridal days. All five pieces are free size, the nath adjustable by chain length at 19 centimetres, and the choker sits close to the neck without a fussy clasp.
