Description

There are bridal sets that announce a woman's arrival, and this is one of them. Rooted in the Rajwadi tradition of Rajasthan's grand durbars, this seven-piece Kundan set speaks the language of ceremonial excess made precise. Vivid ruby-red and forest-green stones are foil-set in the Kundan manner, each piece built on a zinc alloy base dressed in gold-toned finish. Pearl drops hang from the choker and earrings with the unhurried weight of old jewellery, softening the geometry of the settings. The choker spreads a generous 16.5 cm across the collarbone, its adjustable dori allowing a custom fit. The maang tikka descends 11.4 cm along the centre parting; the mattha patti traces the forehead across a full 30.5 cm; the haath phool bridges palm and wrist at 12.7 cm. A nath of 3.8 cm diameter, suspended on an 20.3 cm chain, completes the bridal vocabulary. The full set weighs 370 grams, which is to say it is present without being punishing. For a lehenga in deep crimson or ivory zardozi work, this set is the natural counterpoint. It sits equally well over a Benarasi silk saree at a sangeet or a mehendi, where theatrical adornment is not only welcomed but expected. Free size, with the dori and chain offering real adjustability, this is a set that travels easily and stores without anxiety. The zinc alloy base resists distortion, keeping each piece stable through a long ceremonial day.
