Description

There is a particular tenderness in the way a braid is dressed for ceremony. This set of two choti ornaments carries the unhurried logic of Rajasthani adornment, where the hair itself becomes a canvas. Each piece runs nine inches in length (approximately 23 cm) and one inch wide (roughly 2.5 cm), its brass body worked in the Kundan tradition: flat-set stones pressed into a gold-toned foiled bed and bordered by beaded detailing that catches light with every movement. The Kundan setting here is characteristically intimate, each stone seated flush against the metal rather than raised, so the overall silhouette stays close and sleek against the plait. Brass, chosen for its warmth and workability, holds the setting with the solidity of a much heavier material, though the combined weight of the pair remains a comfortable 62 grams. The bead trim, strung at intervals along the length, gives a gentle rhythm to the piece, evoking the choti jewellery traditions of Jaipur and Bikaner where bridal hair ornamentation is considered as consequential as the necklace or the maang tikka. Draw one piece through a thick plait for a pre-wedding mehendi, or use both together on a single braid for the wedding day itself, paired with a silk lehenga or a Banarasi saree in jewel tones that echo the Kundan's richness. Free-sized and designed to be secured within the braid rather than clipped, these suit most hair thicknesses and require no special fastening beyond a simple knot of the hair around them.
