Description

There are bridal sets that adorn, and then there are those that announce. This Kundan-set bridal parure is wrought in brass and finished to evoke the warm, burnished grandeur of Rajasthani court jewellery. Flat-cut Kundan stones, held in foil-backed collets, sit against a deep ground of polished metal, each piece framed by drops of vivid emerald-green bead work that move with the quality of raw peridot in candlelight. The tradition is unmistakably Jaipur: dense, symmetrical compositions that treat the face and décolletage as a single canvas. The set spans six pieces and covers every bridal adornment: a choker of 10.4 cm width and 4.1 inches (10.4 cm) length on an adjustable dori, chandelier earrings reaching 3.7 inches (9.4 cm) in height, a maang tikka at 5 inches (12.7 cm), a nath with an 8-inch chain, an 11-inch (27.9 cm) matha patti, and a hathphool of 4 inches (10.2 cm). The total weight of 414 g carries the satisfying heft of genuine craftsmanship. Worn together, the set makes its fullest statement over a ruby-red benarasi silk or a forest-green tissue lehenga where the green bead drops echo and extend the fabric's own colour. Separately, the nath and maang tikka translate beautifully to a sangeet dressed in a hand-embroidered kurta. One size suits all, the dori and chain closures offering generous adjustment. Brass worn close to skin benefits from occasional gentle wiping; it rewards careful storage and sustained attention.
